TYRE TALK - Understanding UTQG Ratings

If you’ve ever looked closely at the tyre sidewall, you may have noticed extra markings. American-made tyres often include UTQG – Uniform Tyre Quality Grading, which gives extra insight into performance.

Here’s what it means:

TREADWEAR

A higher number = longer expected tyre life.

Tyres are tested over 11,520 km and graded based on wear rates.

TRACTION

Wet braking ability ranked from AA (best) down to C (lowest).

TEMPERATURE
